Tony Wenas

PT Freeport Indonesia

Tony Wenas currently serves as the President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, one of the largest copper & gold mines in the world. Prior to this, from 2015 - 2017 he served as the President Director of PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP), and Managing Director of APRIL Indonesia, of which he was also the President Commissioner in 2011–2012; RAPP/APRIL is one of the largest pulp & paper producers in the world. Mr Wenas has held several top executive positions in major mining companies, including CEO of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, President of PT Berkat Resources Indonesia, and Country Head of Intrepid Mines Ltd.


Mr Wenas is also the Secretary General of the Indonesian Mining Association (IMA). He is currently the Vice Chairman for Investment at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KADIN), where he previously served as the Chairman of Permanent Committee for Europe. Mr Wenas is a Member of the Board of Advisory at The Nature Conservancy Indonesia (TNC); as well as Supervisory Member of the Indonesian Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD), a member of WBCSD.


He obtained his Business Law Degree from the University of Indonesia in 1985 and completed the executive program at Sloan School of Management at MIT.
